The S&P 500 was up 0.3% to 3,344.1 at midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was also up by 0.3% to 29,367.5.
Nasdaq rose 0.6% to 9,563.2.
Crude oil was up 0.3% to $50.90.
Gold increased 0.4% to 1,569 an ounce.
The yield on a 10-year bond was flat at 1.65%.
HEALTHCARE
Ensign Group Inc. (Nasdaq ENSG) rose 11% to $52.91 at midday trading with a $2.8 billion market cap. Yesterday the company reported fourth quarter earnings of 60 cents a share, beating the Zacks estimate of 55 cents. The San Juan Capistrano-based company provides skilled nursing services.
ICU Medical Inc. (Nasdaq: ICUI) increased 9.3% to $214.50 a share with a $4.3 billion market cap. Volume was nearly double its average at midday. The San Clemente-based company, which makes medical devices for infusion therapies, said it would release fourth quarter results on Feb. 27.
