Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was down 0.1% to 3,233.29 during midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1% to 28,600.27.

The Nasdaq climbed 0.2% to 9,039.28.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.6% to 1.8%.

The price of gold increased 0.8% to $1,565.40.

The price for a barrel of oil was little changed at $63.07.

RESTAURANTS

The Habit Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: HABT) of Irvine surged 33% to $13.93 per share for a market cap of $363 million. Yum! Brands Inc., the owner of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC, said it had reached a $375 million deal to buy Habit Restaurants, which offers hamburgers, ahi tuna sandwiches and milk shakes.

TECHNOLOGY

Chipmaker Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) in Irvine was down 2.2% to $116.10 per share for a market cap of $19.8 billion. The has stock slid since the start of the year after a 23% surge last month.
