The S&P 500 was up 0.5% to 3,113.15 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones rose 0.5% to 27,915.32, while the Nasdaq increased 0.6% to 8,530.31.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.7% to 1.82%.
Gold was down 0.3% to $1,468.
The price for a barrel of crude oil ticked up 1.6% to $57.70.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based Spectrum Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: SPPI) was trading up 3.6% to $8.32 in line with the upswing seen by other pharmaceutical companies Friday. The oncology drugmaker had a recent market value of $957 million.
Shares of Irvine medical device maker Axonics Modulation Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AXNX) slumped 6.6% to $27.04 for a market value of $878 million. The company on Thursday reported results for its third quarter missing Wall Street projections for the period.
