The S&P 500 rose 0.8% to 3,062.78 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.9% to 27,302.7, while the Nasdaq was up 0.9% to 8,365.9.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 2.8% to 1.74%.
Gold was off 0.2% to $1,511.
Crude oil pricing was up 2.7% to $55.63 a barrel.
RESTAURANTS
Shares of El Pollo Loco Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LOCO) surged 29% to $15.04, a day after reporting quarterly results beating Wall Street estimates. The Costa Mesa-based restaurant operator had a recent market value of $554 million.
RETAIL
Irvine retailer Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) was trading up 7.6% to $37.72. The company, with a recent market value of $1 billion, reported better-than-expected results for its September quarter as it enters the holiday selling season.
