Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was down 0.3% in midday trading to 2,899.90.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.2% to 26,368.96.

The Nasdaq fell 0.3% to 7,958.41.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond decreased 0.2% to 2.56%.

The price of oil dropped 0.8% to $63.37 a barrel.

The price of gold slipped 0.2% to $1,292.

RETAIL

Irvine-based Boot Barn Holdings (NYSE: BOOT) was up 3.1% to $31.32 and an $888 million market cap. It’s the best performer today among eight of its peers. Shares for the retailer have jumped 78% this year.

REAL ESTATE

The New Home Company (NYSE: NWHM) in Aliso Viejo slipped 4.3% to $5.18 and a $104 million market cap. It’s the worst performer today among four other home builders and developers based in Orange County. Shares for the home builder, which will report first quarter earnings on May 3, are down 51% in the past year.
