Stock markets were in a broad retreat today as tech and financial shares plunged. The S&P 500 fell 1.6% in midday trading to 2,690.37, the Dow Jones Industrial Average 1.8% to 24,949.28, and the Nasdaq 2.9% to 7,034.35.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 0.4% to 3.06%.
The price of gold was up 0.1% to $1,289.
TECHNOLOGY
Alteryx Inc. (NYSE: AYX) in Irvine dropped 12% to $53.40 on light trading and a $3.3 billion market cap. Still, shares of the data analytics software maker have doubled in value this year.
HEALTHCARE
Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) in San Clemente fell 6.3% to $57.49 and a $2.1 billion market cap. Shares of the maker of stents to treat glaucoma, have nevertheless more than doubled this year.
