George Argyros Jr., son to Orange County philanthropists George and Julia Argyros, died Friday after suffering a cardiac arrest, according to a family statement. He was 55.
The longtime Orange County resident attended Corona del Mar High School and graduated from Chapman Law School in 1999, later pursuing an entrepreneurial career. Like his parents, George Jr. was an active philanthropist, most notably supporting Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, City of Hope and Mariners Christian School in Costa Mesa.
George Jr. is survived by his parents; his wife, Shannon; his son, George Leon III; his two sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held privately in light of COVID-19, the family said.
George Sr., the founder of real estate firm Arnel & Affiliates, and Julia Argyros donate to many local causes through their nonprofit, The Argyros Family Foundation. The family counts an approximate wealth of $2.6 billion, according to a Business Journal estimate.
