Comedian Jerry Lewis and local businesspeople were on hand last month for a Muscular Dystrophy Association gala honoring Art Kazarian, who runs a trio of waste recycling companies, including Irvine’s Tierra Verde Industries. About 325 people attended the event at the Island Hotel Newport Beach. Paul and Marybelle Musco of Santa Ana’s Gemini Industries Inc were presenters. Lewis, MDA’s national chairman, performed comedy for the event. Augie Nieto and wife Lynne, co-chairs of MDA’s amyotrophic lateral sclerosis division, also were on hand. The event, which included silent and live auctions, raised money to send kids with muscular dystrophy to summer camp.
