Calnev Office in Orange Seeks Approval for New Pipeline

Houston-based Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP’s office in Orange is pursuing an expansion of its pipeline system that runs from San Bernardino County to the Las Vegas area.

Kinder Morgan operates the pipeline system, known as Calnev, through its subsidiary Calnev Pipe Line LLC.

The two pipelines now in place cover 550 miles between Colton and North Las Vegas and transport about 156,000 barrels of gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel.

The new pipeline would take capacity up 28%, to about 200,000 barrels a day.

It would run alongside the existing two for most of the route, traveling 233 miles from the existing terminal at the Colton facility and connecting with an existing pipeline after crossing into Nevada.

Kinder Morgan filed applications for the new pipeline project in 2007. It’s awaiting project approvals to start construction along the route.

Kinder Morgan owns and operates more than 38,000 miles of pipelines and 180 terminals in North America.
