Wyndham Irvine – Orange County Airport is being rebranded under a name new to OC.
The 335-room property near John Wayne Airport will become Sonesta Irvine, as owner Service Properties Trust ends its agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Sonesta and SPT, formerly Hospitality Properties Trust, are managed by Newton, Mass.-based RMR Group.
This will be the third California property for Sonesta; the others are in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. The chain specializes in extended-stay hotels and has north of 80 properties worldwide.
Renovations may follow, according to Sonesta CEO and President Carlos Flores.
“We are thrilled to be in Southern California, and we think there is a real opportunity to look for other properties in Orange County,” Flores told the Business Journal.
