Rams to Summer at UCI

The Los Angeles Rams will hold the team’s annual summer training camp at University of California-Irvine for the next three years.

The Rams played at Anaheim Stadium from 1980 to 1994, before then-owner Georgia Frontiere moved the team to St. Louis; the franchise held its summer training camp at UCI in 1991, 1992 and 1994.

The deal to bring them back to OC for summer drills will run until their new stadium and training facilities in Inglewood are completed, with an opening expected in 2019.

Rookies, including first pick of the draft, quarterback Jared Goff, are scheduled to report to this year’s training camp on July 26, with veterans arriving July 29. The first practice, July 30, is open to the public.

UCI and Orange County will be in for wider exposure from the deal as the Rams will be featured on HBO’s hit series “Hard Knocks,” which follows a team, its players and coaches throughout training camp.
