The city of Newport Beach will be featured for the first time during the 94th Academy Awards post-show on March 27. Â
The city’s destination marketing agency, Visit Newport Beach, has planned a new media integration to highlight the coastal town’s hospitality industry using its history of Hollywood visitors during ABC’s entertainment special “On The Red Carpet After the Awards”.
Newport Beach’s cinematic background acts as tourist bait in the organization’s 30-second commercial spot debuting after the awards ceremony. An accompanying 90-second video segment was filmed on-site at the Balboa Bay Resort capturing an interview between CEO Gary Sherwin and Variety magazine editor, Jenelle Riley.Â
“Newport Beach has enjoyed a long-standing history with Hollywood serving as a silent film set, to a haven for Hollywood’s Golden Era actors and actresses to inspiring stories for TV and film today,” Sherwin said in a statement.Â
This will follow the organization’s newest digital spring campaign advertising the city as a “water destination” aiming to attract travelers with “coastal luxury”. Reaching markets in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix, the campaign is titled “Float With Us.”Â
As of 2019, the city of Newport Beach reported a population of 87,180 people and general fund revenue of $215.2 million.Â
