Newport Beach & Co. said it handled 18% of hotel room bookings in the city for its fiscal year 2016 that ended June 30, up from 15% of the city’s total in 2015.
Total hotel nights booked in Newport Beach were about 909,000 in 2016 and 901,000 in 2015; Newport Beach & Co. facilitated 160,000 and 136,000 rooms in those two years, respectively.
The destination marketer for the city of Newport Beach said its hotel bookings translated into an economic impact in the city of about $96 million in 2016, compared with about $73 million in 2015, an increase of 31%.
