John Wayne Airport passenger traffic rose about 8% year-over-year in July to 991,000; the year-to-date total of 6.2 million passengers is 5.4% higher than a year ago.
There were about 4,000 commercial flights in the month, up just under 5%; year-to-date commercial flights are up 3.5% to 63,000.
International passengers rose 2% in July to 22,000 but are down more than 10% on the year to 121,000, on about 90 flights in July and 750 flights year-to-date.
The three busiest airlines by passenger counts in July were Southwest Airlines at 355,000; American at 160,000; and United at 158,000.
