Resort industry veteran Jeroen Quint is the new general manager of Hotel Irvine, having joined the hotel last month.
The 536-room hotel is owned by Newport Beach-based Irvine Company and is part of its hotels and resorts division.
Quint has worked for resort operators Ritz-Carlton and Capella in Ireland, Italy, in Florida and on the East Coast; his most recent role was as general manager for Capella’s Marigot Bay property in Saint Lucia in the eastern Caribbean.
Quint said he “also worked for Wolfgang Puck, as GM for his restaurants … in Washington, D.C.”—experience he expects will support Hotel Irvine’s ongoing positioning of its Eats Kitchen & Bar as a gastropub gathering place for locals.
“Our goal is for Eats to be a neighborhood spot—to draw more lunch business and have people stop in after work.”
Hotel Irvine debuted renovated rooms and public spaces, including the restaurant, bar, and grab-and-go shop, last year after taking back management of the property from Hyatt Hotels Corp. in 2013.
“We’re going out and introducing the brand to a lot of people to grow the business,” Quint said.
Quint was born in the Netherlands and began his career in Germany with Hyatt.
An early order of business is next week’s roll-out of technology from Guest-tek Ltd. in Canada that lets a guest stream video or a business presentations to the room’s television from a smart phone or tablet.
