Coronavirus Concern Closes Disneyland

Disneyland will close through the end of the month due to coronavirus, effective Saturday March 14, the theme park said in a Thursday statement.

“While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park,” the statement read.

Disneyland’s three hotels at the resort will stay open until March 16 so guests can make travel plans and Downtown Disney will remain open.

The company, the largest employer in Orange County with 32,000 employees here, said it will continue to pay staff during the closure.

The announcement comes a day after Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom said gatherings of more than 250 people should be postponed or canceled at least through the end of March.
