Software Maker Raises $15.5 Million

Irvine-based Numecent received $15.5 million in Series B funding that included $4.5 million from a previous investor.

The company makes software designed to deliver applications from the cloud faster and without the need to install them on a device.

Numecent has raised a total of $38 million.

Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments, the venture capital arm of Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Telekom, put in the $4.5 million this time. Deutsche Telekom affiliates led a $13.6 million Series A funding round two years ago.

Numecent, founded in 2008, earlier raised $11 million from angel investors.

Earlier this year, the Business Journal estimated its sales at about $20 million.
