Palmer Luckey’s tech-focused defense company Anduril Industries Inc. in Irvine said it’s raised $200 million in a new funding round, almost doubling the company’s valuation to $1.9 billion.

“The Series C round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, and includes 8VC, Elad Gil, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Human Capital, Lux Capital, and Valor Equity Partners,” the company said in a statement.

Anduril in September secured $127 million in a seed funding round, putting its valuation at about $1 billion.

The 3-year-old defense and border surveillance company uses a combination of radar sensor-clad surveillance towers, drones and artificial intelligence to monitor large areas.

Anduril currently has contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the UK Ministry of Defense as well as other agencies.

The company is advertising for more than 30 job openings as of today in OC. Anduril employed 160 people in the area as of the end of 2019.

Luckey is the founder of Oculus VR, which was sold to Facebook in 2014.
