Indexes surged in midday trading Thursday after the House of Representatives passed a $1.9 trillion relief bill.
The S&P 500 was up 1.4% to 3,954.29.
The Dow Jones increased 1% to 32,622.45.
The Nasdaq jumped 2.5% to 13,393.73.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond increased 1.5% to 0.9211%.
The price of gold climbed 1.9% to $1,724.
The price of oil rose 2% to $65.78 a barrel.
TECHNOLOGY
Chipmaker Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) increased 4.8% to $175.71 and a $29 billion market cap. Shares of the Irvine-based firm have fallen about 9.5% since last month, when the company reported better-than-expected revenue of $1.5 billion in its first quarter of 2021.
SERVICES
Irvine-based Montrose Environmental Group Inc. (NYSE: MEG) rose 7.9% to $47.20 and a $1.1 billion market cap. Shares of the provider of environmental consulting services have more than tripled from $15 since its initial public offering last July.
