Irvine-based electronic switch maker Menlo Microsystems Inc. said today it is investing $50 million in a new manufacturing plant in upstate New York that will create more than 100 jobs within the next five years.
CEO Russ Garcia said the plant represents “the first step toward significantly increasing the domestic production capacity” of the company’s tiny switches used in nearly everything from telecommunications to aerospace.
It is part of a move to bring semiconductor production and related industries to the U.S. from China and Taiwan.
