A unit of Santa Ana-based Identive Group Inc. filled a $1.7 million contract to supply the Department of Justice with credential-based access controls in the second quarter.
The systems order was secured as part of a program developed by Identive for DoJ to support long-term security initiatives.
Identive makes scanners, readers, cards and other security devices for buildings, computers and financial transactions.
The company announced a previous federal order in June to supply an unnamed federal agency with 266,000 smart card readers.
Terms of that deal were undisclosed.
The readers—which fit into a USB port, allow government employees to quickly and securely log on to a computer network—improve cyber security and email encryption concerns.
Identive strengthened its ties to Washington this year when it added former White House security adviser Richard Clarke to its board.
Clarke served under three presidents—George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush—and earlier worked for 19 years in intelligence posts and at the State Department.
The company posted revenue of $102.7 million in 2011, up 21% from a year earlier.
