Goodwin Co., a company specializing in liquid filling and chemical blending, has implemented a new automatic blending system at their Garden Grove facility.
“The problem we’re trying to solve is how can we increase productivity, find cost savings and also be more flexible for our customers,” President Don Goodwin told the Business Journal.
The new system can blend up to 500 gallons per minute, cutting down the average blend time from 16 hours to three hours.
The company’s investment in the system, took 18 months to get up and running.
Goodwin Co. spent 2023 focusing on sales and marketing.
The company has over 200 full-time employees and hired more staff in multiple areas including manufacturing, R&D and accounting. It also revamped its website to generate more interest.
“If 2023 was a visionary year for strategic investing, 2024 is the year for execution,” Goodwin said.
The company onboarded 16 new clients last year with the goal of growing revenue by 25% this year.
Goodwin is the fifth-generation president of the 100-year-old business and is committed to “staying true to the culture.”
He says Goodwin Co. will continue to prioritize long-term relationships with companies like Simple Green, which Goodwin Co. has been manufacturing cleaning products for more than 30 years.
GiGO Creates App For On-Demand Cleaning
Bita Safari envisioned the process of booking professional cleaners as easy as requesting an Uber ride.
This was her inspiration behind starting an on-demand cleaning platform dubbed GiGO Clean Technology Inc.
“We connect consumers to cleaners in the area directly by ZIP code,” Safari told the Business Journal.
The Santa Ana-based company has around 40 cleaners and launched services in Orange County and Los Angeles last December followed by a launch in San Diego this month.
The app is currently free to download in Apple and Google Play stores.
The GiGO Clean app offers a variety of cleaning services for homes, offices and vacation rentals.
Safari says the app is an alternative option for people who need immediate cleaning services and don’t want to commit to long-term contracts.
Prices range between $35 to $75 an hour depending on the type of cleaning.
Safari said she noticed a gap in the cleaning industry after becoming president of commercial cleaning company Simply Crystal Clean in Santa Ana.
“I realized that this is such a huge industry, and that technology needs to come in and take over,” Safari said.
The home cleaning industry is expected to reach $40 billion by 2025, according to Safari.
While 2023 was dedicated to launching the app, Safari expects revenue to reach $50 million in three years.
Safari is making a larger push for green cleaning in the industry.
During the pandemic, she witnessed cleaning companies use harsh chemicals to keep up with demand.
“They were cleaning five or six houses a day, so they had to work as fast as possible,” Safari said.
GiGO Clean is in talks with an Orange County manufacturer to help bring down the amount of cleaning products needed to just four.
