Aliso Viejo-based QLogic Corp., a maker of electronics for data storage networks, has added two directors, including the chief executive of Newport Beach-based chipmaker Conexant Systems Inc.
Scott Mercer, Conexant’s chief executive since 2008, joined QLogic’s board along with Bill Zeitler, a retired IBM Corp. executive.
The appointments bring QLogic’s board to eight members.
Other members include H.K. Desai, QLogic’s longtime chief executive and chairman, Kathryn B. Lewis, a former Western Digital Corp. executive and current nonprofit director, and Balakrishnan S. Iyer, a former chief financial officer of Conexant who remains a director of the chipmaker.
Mercer has been a director of Conexant since 2003. He’s had executive stints at some big names, including Western Digital, Dell Inc., TeraLogic Inc. and LSI Corp.
He’s led a major restructuring of Conexant, which makes chips for multifunction office machines that fax, scan, copy and print, interactive kiosks used in stores, digital picture frames, Bluetooth headsets and computer speakers, among others.
QLogic makes networking chips, circuit boards and switches that are used in corporate and other networks.
The company has yearly sales of about $600 million and a recent market value of $1.7 billion.
