Cole Joins WD Board

Longtime Accenture Plc executive Martin Cole has joined the board of Irvine-based storage products maker Western Digital Corp.

Cole, who spent 34 years with the technology consultancy and IT provider, will serve on the audit committee. The addition of Cole comes as several Western Digital directors didn’t seek reelection this year and a recent board resignation from its Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Ltd. subsidiary.

The 58-year-old Florida resident most recently served as chief executive officer of Accenture’s Technology Group, heading innovation initiatives, the software business, and development emerging technology services, including cloud applications, a particularly important for segment for Western Digital as it expands cloud storage offerings, according to Chairman Tom Pardun.

Cole is a director for Palo Alto-based Cloudera Inc. and Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Conn.

Western Digital shares were up about half a percent in early afternoon trading today with a market value of about $24.1 billion.
