Boldyn Secures $1.2B Debt Financing

Wireless infrastructure provider Boldyn Networks US has arranged about $1.2 billion in additional funding to support its expansion across the country.

Boldyn US, headquartered in Irvine, provides open access networks to a wide array of sites ranging from public transit systems to airports and military bases as well as sports and entertainment venues.

“This additional financing represents a major vote of confidence in Boldyn Networks and our ability to deliver on the demands of a rapidly evolving landscape,” CEO Christos Karmis said.

The company on Jan. 30 announced the successful completion of the debt financing, consisting of senior secured credit facilities and fixed rate notes.

The financing was supported by CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) as the exclusive financial advisor among other roles, according to Boldyn.

Debt financing occurs when a firm raises money for working capital or capital expenditures
by selling debt instruments to individuals and/or institutional investors, according to Investopedia.

Multiple Operators at Once

Boldyn Networks US ranked No. 10 on the Business Journal’s 2024 list of largest Telecommunications and Wireless companies in OC. The company is part of the global Boldyn Networks organization.

“We’re a neutral host. We build and manage network infrastructure that multiple operators can use at once,” the company says on its website.

The company said demand for innovation is evolving at an unprecedented pace.

“This funding strengthens our ability to execute on our strategic vision and empowers us to meet these evolving needs with cutting-edge solutions,” according to the Boldyn US CEO, who is based in Orange County.

Boldyn Networks is one of the world’s largest neutral host providers, delivering the advanced shared network infrastructure needed for a smart, inclusive and sustainable future.

NYC, Crypto.com Arena

In September, Boldyn said it had launched the 5G wireless network throughout the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) 42nd Street Shuttle line in New York City. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile customers now have full cell service in one of the system’s most traveled tunnels.

Boldyn provides connectivity across Crypto.com Arena and the surrounding LA Live complex.

“We also service ocV!BE in Anaheim,” Boldyn told the Business Journal on Feb. 3. “It’s a hub that’s designed to gather the community through arts, entertainment and dining options, and we’re built in to make sure digital connectivity matches that mandate.”
The company is actively delivering neutral host and open access networks in areas including:
• Public transit and airports, including MTA in New York City and Nashville International Airport
• Universities, including University of North Dakota
• Military bases, including Fort Cavazos in Texas
• Sports and event venues, including Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City and KFC Yum! Center in Kentucky
• Conventions centers, including the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas
• Mixed used developments, including Nashville Yards

Boldyn’s HQ Here to Stay

While Boldyn is a major global organization, the company will be keeping the headquarters of its U.S. unit in Irvine.

In fact, “Yes!” was the answer when the question was asked.

“We’re proud to call Irvine our home on the West Coast so that we can play an active role in understanding the unique connectivity needs in the region and provide solutions,” the company said in an e-mail response on Feb. 3.
