Paul Summers, the chairman and chief executive of Irvine-based AllDigital Holdings Inc., has died unexpectedly.
The entrepreneur cofounded the digital broadcasting services provider in 2009, in addition to several other companies, including VitalStream Holdings, which went public on the Nasdaq and was sold for about $217 million in stock in 2006 to Atlanta-based Internap Network Services Co.; and AnaServe Inc., a Newport Beach Web hosting company that was sold to Cupertino-based Concentric Network Corp. in 1988 for an undisclosed sum.
The cause and day of death and his age weren’t released, and the company hasn’t replied to inquiries.
Summers, a University of Southern California alumnae, had more than 20 years of executive management experience in the digital media sector.
“Paul loved this industry and had a passion to bring forward services that could be used by both large and small companies,” said Tim Napoleon, who worked with Summers at the last three companies he established. “He was a great friend and mentor.”
“The entire AllDigital family is saddened by the news of Paul’s death,” the company’s board said in a released statement.
“The company’s directors and employees grieve Paul’s passing and send our deepest condolences to his family,” the statement read.
President Michael Linos has assumed leadership responsibilities as interim chief executive.
AllDigital shares are traded on the Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board, with a market value of $3.2 million.
The company provides cloud data management and integration services that receive, store, secure, convert and deliver video-on-demand and live media feeds to smartphones, computers and televisions.
