Indexes fell today in midday trading after the Labor Department reported that inflation reached an 8.6% annual rate in May, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The S&P 500 dropped 2.7% to 3,908.08.
The Dow 30 declined 2.5% to 31,474.12.
The Nasdaq slid 3.5% to 11,343.98.
Crude oil fell 1.9% to $119.25 a barrel.
Gold rose 1% to $1,872.50 per ounce.
The yield on a 10-year bond gained 3.9% to 3.163%.
ENERGY
Newport Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE) slid 13% today to $5.45 per share and a $1.2 billion market cap. Shares for the supplier of renewable natural gas returned to their opening levels on Thursday, undoing yesterday’s 11% rise in midday trading.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine-based Alteryx Inc. (NYSE: AYX) fell 6.7% to $50.54 per share and a $3.5 billion market cap. Shares for the data analytics software company have been off about 44% since their 52-week high last June.
