WHO: Estela González de Ortiz is a member of the González family, the founders of Anaheim-based Northgate González Market, which is one of the largest Hispanic grocery chains in California with 44 locations.
WHY: Established the foundation in 2002 and oversees donations to sports teams, community events and neighborhood schools. In 2022, the foundation distributed $250,000 in scholarships. Funds are also dedicated to helping orphanages and convalescent homes in Mexico.
IN THE NEWS: The foundation gave over $328,000 in funds for various programs in 2023, mainly in scholarships.
NOTABLE: Ortiz is one of the 13 children of founders Don Miguel González Jiménez and Doña Teresa Reynoso de González, who inspired the creation of the family foundation.
