Santa Ana-based Universal Protection Service has acquired A&R Security Services Inc. in Blue Island, Ill. and its affiliate United Security LLC.
Terms were undisclosed.
A&R serves the residential, retail and industrial markets, including high-rise buildings and manufacturing plants. United Security is part of the A&R group of companies and provides mobile patrol and security officers services, among others.
The latest buy is a step into the Midwestern region for Universal Protection, the security division of Universal Services of America in Santa Ana, which also operates a building-maintenance business and fire-safety protection services.
The recent acquisition follows a deal in June, when Universal Protection bought Regent Security Services Inc. in Augusta, Ga.
The company also bought Heritage Security Services in San Diego in May.
Universal Services saw more than $329 million in revenue for the year ended last June.
The company expects the A&R buy to boost its presence in a number of states, including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
President of A&R Christopher Thornton called the acquisition “a natural progression” since the companies have been “partners in business ventures before.”
