SingerLewak Acquires HBLA

Adds 21 employees to local office

SingerLewak LLP, a Los Angeles-based accounting firm with an office in Irvine, said it’s acquired Irvine’s HBLA CPAs Inc.

HBLA, which has 21 employees, provides services in governmental and commercial audits, business accounting, taxes, and estate planning.

“Combining our operation with the resources and entrepreneurial spirit of SingerLewak allows our firm to scale our reach and range of services so that we may continue delivering superior value to our clients,” HBLA Co-Managing Partner David B. Lang said in a statement.

HBLA, an acronym for Hausmaninger, Benoe, Lang and Alford, was formed in 1985. It ranked No. 42 on the Business Journal’s most recent list of accounting firms with offices in Orange County.

SingerLewak ranked No. 26 on the list, reporting 59 employees in Orange County. Its top local executive is partner Robert Schlener. Companywide, it has 400 employees, making it one of the nation’s 100 largest accounting firms.
