Service Champions Acquires Arizona Firm

Service Champions Group, a Brea-based plumbing, heating and air-conditioning company, said it’s acquiring Hobaica Services, a 70-employee firm that has serviced the Phoenix area since 1952. Terms of the deal were not revealed.

The acquisition marks the 11th purchase in the past two years for Service Champions, which is a portfolio company of Odyssey Investment Partners.  In December, Service Champions acquired another Phoenix-based firm, Proskill Services.

“The addition of Hobaica to the Service Champions family of businesses, including the recently acquired ProSkill, cements our place as the leading provider of best-in-class customer service in the heating and cooling industry to Valley of the Sun residents,” Service Champions Chief Executive Leland Smith said in a statement.

Smith in 2000 began Service Champions, which has approximately $400 million in annual sales and 1,200 employees.
