Irvine-based Resources Connection Inc. is now part of the S&P SmallCap 600 Index.
“It’s certainly nice to be acknowledged,” said Tony Cherbak, president and chief operating officer of the management consulting firm.
The company, which operates as Resources Global Professionals, is the biggest management consultant firm based in Orange County, according to the Business Journal’s list.
It provides professional consulting on a project basis.
“It’s a combination of many disciplines,” Cherbak said. “We range the skill gamut from accounting to information technology to legal, aligned with the functional areas that a typical client would have.”
Resources Connection’s shares saw an increase after the announcement on the addition to the index, rising to a market value of about $446 million last week.
The S&P SmallCap 600 covers about 3% of the domestic stock market.
A company must meet certain qualifications to be added to the index, including a market value of between $300 million and $1.4 billion, and four consecutive quarters of positive earnings according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles standards.
