CoolSys Names New COO

Brea-based Coolsys, one the nation’s largest refrigeration and HVAC services companies, named Chris Schulken as chief operating officer, a new position.

Schulken will oversee day-to-day administrative and operational functions at CoolSys and be a member of the executive management team, steering the company on its rapid growth trajectory. CoolSys, which has sales in the $500 million range, is aiming to get to $1 billion annually within a few years through both acquisitions and organic growth.

“I’m looking forward to working with the CoolSys team during this time of continued nationwide expansion,” Schulken said.

He has a wide range of experience including Carrier Corp. and Johnson Controls Inc. where he assumed responsibility for the northeast territory, a $1.7 billion business at that time.

Originally from the New York area, Schulken began his career working on ship HVAC systems as a cadet learning to be a third assistant engineer while attending Maritime College, State University of New York. He also has an MBA from George Washington University.
