Argyros Family Gives $1.5M to Boys & Girls Clubs

The Argyros Family is donating $1.5 million to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast, which covers Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and Orange.

The Boys & Girls Clubs group is building a new Costa Mesa club to include educational, arts-oriented and physical fitness spaces.

Supporters of the work include the Curci, Ueberroth, and Joe MacPherson families; Sharon Lund and O.L. Halsell foundations; and Antis Roofing.

The full capital campaign raised $6.5 million, of which the Argyros Family’s gift is the final piece.

The Central Orange Coast nonprofit is led by Chief Executive Robert Santana; 200,000 kids live in the five cities it covers.

Renovation and rebuilding of the Costa Mesa site is expected to cost about $3 million and serve about 16,000 kids at its completion, when it will be renamed the Argyros Center for Opportunity.

Several clubs in the Central Coast group’s cities are under redevelopment.
