Aon Global Risk Consulting has hired local insurance industry veteran Scott Smith for the new position of director of its Newport Beach-based ergonomics division.
Smith oversees a team of eight professional ergonomists who are spread across Aon Global Risk Consulting’s offices nationwide. He most recently worked at Lockton Insurance Brokers LLC and ran Ergonomics Management Group LLC in Laguna Niguel.
Aon Global Risk Consulting’s ergonomics practice provides risk assessment, design assistance and training programs, among other services.
Smith is “part of a dedicated initiative to grow our ergonomics practice to support clients and help drive down our clients’ casualty [total cost of risk],” a company spokesperson said.
Aon Global Risk Consulting is part of Aon PLC, a London-based professional-services conglomerate.
The parent company is publicly traded, with a market value of about $24.8 billion. Its risk-solutions segment, which has an office in Newport Beach and includes the ergonomics division, generated $7.8 billion in revenue last year, accounting for about 66% of Aon’s overall revenue.
