Vans Opens in Harajuku

Vans Inc.’s team in Asia Pacific has opened a three-floor building in Japan that’s fully dedicated to the Costa Mesa skate brand.

This marks the first takeover of a complete building for the company’s store in the country. The location is in the Harajuku district.

The store carries footwear, apparel and accessories for men and women. It also features paintings from three Japanese artists on various walls throughout the building. Broadcasts of Vans tournaments or music performances will play for visitors.

The Harajuku location joins a base of more than 2,000 Vans stores globally.

Elsewhere, Vans also said Tuesday it launched the latest iteration of its ongoing “Off The Wall” marketing campaign, the latest version focused on three local skate scenes in Seattle, Poland and Beijing.

Vans is part of Denver-based VF Corp. (NYSE: VFC), which also owns Dickies, The North Face and Timberland. VF had a recent market cap of $25.7 billion.
