PacSun, Tilly’s Close; Chipotle Strikes Uber Eats Deal

An order Tuesday afternoon from Orange County health officer Nichole Quick triggered a fresh wave of actions from local companies in response to COVID-19.

Irvine-based Tilly’s Inc. (NYSE: TLYS) said it would close all 239 of its U.S. stores beginning at the end of the day Wednesday until a reopening of March 27 at the earliest. The retailer said it will continue paying store employees during the temporary closure.

Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California LLC President Alfred Chang also informed customers in an email and on the retailer’s website it too will shutter stores until at least March 29.

Meanwhile, Newport Beach-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) said Wednesday morning it struck a deal with Uber Eats to offer free delivery on transactions of at least $10 throughout the U.S. through March 31. Customers can check an option through the Uber Eats app to have drivers leave their orders at their doorstop to avoid contact.
