OC Automakers Post Record November Sales

Hyundai, Kia and Genesis surpass prior records

Sales for all Orange County automakers are back on the rise following a record-breaking November.

Hyundai Motor America of Fountain Valley saw year-over-year sales jump 43% to 63,305 vehicles—a “best-ever November” for the brand. Sales were led by its Tuscon SUV, which rose 42% to 16,059.

Mazda North American Operations of Irvine gained 31% to 26,906. The company’s highest-selling vehicle, the CX-5 SUV, rose 21% to 12,692.

Kia America Inc. increased 8% to 56,703, beating out the record set in 2016. The Sportage SUV was the Irvine company’s highest selling vehicle, which surged 143% to 10,554.

Sales for Genesis Motor America Inc., the Fountain Valley luxury vehicle division of Hyundai, rose less than 0.1% to 5,005, barely beating the record of 5,002 set last November. The company’s highest selling vehicle, the GV70 SUV, fell 6.5% to 1,504.
