Oakley Takes to the Powder in New Feature Film

Oakley Inc. followed some of the biggest names in snowboarding—Shaun White, Mark McMorris, Ståle Sandbech, Jake Blauvelt and Nicolas Müller—down the slopes in Finland, British Columbia, Norway and Japan to produce “Snowboarding: For Me.”

The premiere of the full feature film will be Oct. 30 at the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach, followed by a series of international screenings. An iTunes download of the movie will be available Nov. 4, and a television version will air Nov. 23 on ABC’s World of X Games.

The Foothill Ranch apparel company aimed to provide its team of athletes “a platform to tell their story, to express themselves through snowboarding and to inspire others with their creativity and passion for the sport,” Patrick McIlvain, vice president of Oakley global sports marketing, said in a statement. “What you’ll see on screen exceeds those goals. The movie taps into that internal craving we all have, whether a world-class snowboarder or newcomer, to get out and ride for love of the sport.”

The Zoe Look

South Coast Plaza and the Hollywood Reporter hosted the “Live the Look” fall runway show this month. Celebrity stylist and designer Rachel Zoe was on hand to “offer her take on fall’s hottest fashion trends while presenting and narrating the most-wanted looks” from the shopping center’s luxury brands, including Max Mara, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Oscar de la Renta and Versace.

Finding Little Arabia

If you don’t know where the Little Arabia District is, well, there’s a map for that. The cluster of Arab-American owned stores and restaurants is distributing its first marketing brochure to about 160 tourist-friendly spots, such as hotels near Disneyland. It features a large map of the area and a listing of businesses in the district.

The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau designated the area, along Brookhurst Street in Anaheim, as a tourist attraction this past July. The brochure, created by Arabesque Media, is part of a marketing plan that also includes a new website and a possible designation by the city of Anaheim as an official district.
