Irvine-based K1 Speed has partnered with vehicle maker Segway to make the latter’s products available via K1’s online store.
Segway, owned by China-based robotics company Ninebot, will allow K1 Speed to sell its electric scooters and GoKart Pro.
The move “reflects Segway’s passion for performance, innovation and inspiring the next generation of riders,” Alex Connelly, head of emerging business development, said in a statement.
Segway, previously headquartered in Bedford, New Hampshire, will be the official sponsor of K1 Speed’s Junior and Teen Challenge Grand Prix racing leagues as well.
“Segway’s incredible reputation as a front-runner in electric mobility aligns perfectly with our use of fully electric go-karts,” K1 Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer Susan Danglard said.
K1 Speed currently has 67 open indoor go-kart centers in the U.S. and two outdoor circuits in California and Indiana with six additional locations in the works. The company counts 164 employees in Orange County and almost 2,000 companywide.
