A Lake Forest-based maker of artificial nails has acquired an Aliso Viejo maker of antifungal products and hand sanitizers.
Pacific World Corp., which makes Nailene artificial nails and treatments and is based in Lake Forest, bought Aliso Viejo’s Woodward Laboratories Inc., which makes nail and skin treatments as well as hand sanitizers.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Ken Gerenraich, Woodward’s founder and chief executive, is joining Pacific World as chief science officer.
He started Woodward Labs from his home in 1992 with a formulation to treat toe and fingernail fungus. The company now sells a line of products under the Mycodie brand at drugstores, super markets and other retailers.
It also sells HandsClens line of hand sanitizers. The company said it saw a spike in sales last year amid the swine flu breakout.
It’s unclear what Woodward’s yearly sales are.
Pacific World is known for its Nailene nails and treatments and also makes artificial nails under the Revlon brand as a licensee of New York-based Revlon Inc.
A few years ago, the company started selling an oil designed to treat scars and stretch marks.
Pacific World’s products are sold at drugstores and discount chains. It’s yearly sales also are unknown.
