Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) said it’s hiring 15,000 employees ahead of its busiest season: March to May.
The Newport Beach-based company, Orange County’s second largest restaurant chain by sales, plans to more than double its location count in North America to 7,000 this year.
“We will continue bringing in new crew to support Chipotle’s aggressive growth plans, while simultaneously promoting and upskilling those currently in role,” Chief Restaurant Officer Scott Boatwright said in a statement.
Chipotle said last year over 90% of restaurant management roles were internal promotions.
Following the announcement, shares in the company rose 2.5% to $1,603.53 apiece and a $44 billion market cap.
