The 48th annual Orange County International Auto Show starts tomorrow and will run though Oct. 7 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The show typically attracts nearly 500,000 people each year, making it one of the largest in the U.S. It is owned and presented by the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA) and produced by Harrisburg, Pa.-based Motor Trend Auto Shows LLC.

About 500 cars, trucks, crossovers, exotics and other vehicles will be on display this year.

Attendees will have the opportunity to get up close to several cars and sit behind the wheel, play with infotainment systems, inspect engines, and test drive 100 vehicles from 16 manufacturers.

“This is the biggest number of ride and drives we have ever offered and attendees will be able to get a real, hands-on comparison as they consider their next new car,” said John Sackrison, OC International Auto Show director and president of OCADA.

A collection of high-end exotic vehicles will be on display, including the 2013 Rolls-Royce Series II Phantom, Spyker LM85, Fisker Karma, EcoSport, and other vehicles from Bentley, Lamborghini, Lotus, McLaren, and others.

A new contest called “Cram the Cube” will be held every hour during the show. The contest will feature local college fraternities and sororities and other groups with a philanthropic cause attempting to fill a Nissan Cube vehicle with as many people as possible. The group who crams the most people into the vehicle will win a cash prize of $1,000 for its charity of choice.

“We are thrilled to offer local organizations an opportunity to raise some money and have some fun at this year’s show,” Sackrison said. “Giving back to the community is important to [us] and if we can create some fun and excitement at the same time, it’s a win-win for everyone.”
