Tilly’s Inc., an Irvine-based operator of retail stores geared to teenagers, announced that chief merchandising officer Laura Janney resigned from her position on Nov. 8 and simultaneously promoted Michael Cingolani to senior vice president and general merchandise manager.
Janney spent about 18 months at Tilly’s after previously working for 32 years at Nordstrom. The apparel company said she departed to pursue other interests.
Tilly’s, which saw sales fall 7.3% in fiscal 2024, on Sept. 5 reported fiscal second quarter sales rose 1.8% to $162.9 million (NYSE: TLYS).
Cingolani recently joined the retailer last August as the company’s senior director and divisional merchandise manager of men’s and boys’ apparel. His retail career started in 2001, and he worked his way up through multiple companies in buying and merchandising such as Kohl’s Corp., American Eagle Outfitters Inc., Pacsun, Land’s End and Foot Locker.
Shares fell 1% to $4.15 apiece during midday trading with a market cap of $125 million. Tilly’s will report its fiscal third quarter results on Dec. 5.
