South Coast Sets New Reopen Date

South Coast Plaza said it plans to reopen the center Thursday, after nearly three months of being temporarily shuttered.

The shopping center reopens with 110 of its retailers and restaurants.

South Coast, OC’s largest shopping center, originally planned a reopening earlier this month. However, protests in response to the killing of George Floyd kept the center temporarily closed for a while longer.

It originally closed in March following Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The property reopens with a number of public health and safety measures in place, including frequent cleaning, an air treatment system and the enforcement of social distancing.
