Amazon.com Inc. announced it has opened an Amazon Fresh location in Huntington Beach, marking the company’s third grocery store in Orange County.
The store is also the company’s 15th in Southern California.
Unlike its Irvine and Fullerton stores, the Huntington Beach location will feature the company’s “Just Walk Out” tech, which allows shoppers to skip the checkout line and pay with the Amazon app or with their credit or debit card at the store’s gates as they exit.
The Irvine and Fullerton locations feature Amazon’s Dash Cart tech, which also allows guests to skip the checkout line using sensors that automatically identify items placed in shopping carts. As shoppers leave the store, payments are processed through their Amazon accounts.
The Huntington Beach store runs 35,000 square feet and is just a few miles from the San Diego (405) Freeway.
It will create hundreds of jobs with a starting wage of $16.40 per hour, company officials said.
