Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has leased a 100,000-square-foot building at 88 E. Orangethorpe Ave. in Anaheim with plans to open a store next year. The building formerly housed a Food 4 Less discount grocery store, which moved to nearby site a few years ago. Terms of the Wal-Mart lease were undisclosed. Wal-Mart is set to anchor the shopping center near the Riverside (91) Freeway, joining a Big 5 Sporting Goods, a Sonic fast food restaurant and a Famsa store selling home furnishings. The store is set to be Wal-Mart’s 12th in the county. Wal-Mart plans to operate the store around the clock, joining 24-hour Wal-Marts in Santa Ana, Westminster, Anaheim, Orange and La Habra. Early improvement work is under way at the building.
