Hyundai Gets Honors for HQ

Hyundai Motor America Inc.’s new headquarters won honors from the local chapter of a global real estate trade group.

The LEED Gold certified building in Fountain Valley brought the automaker a Project Leadership Award at the annual REmmy Awards hosted by CoreNet Global Southern California.

The award focuses on excellence and innovation in design, construction and development.

“The building further amplifies Hyundai’s brand image with the structure’s floating design and clean lines, exuding sustainability, harmony and forward-thinking leadership,” Michael Fox, Hyundai’s director of administrative services, said in a statement.

The 500,000-square-foot project, valued at $200 million, started in 2012 and took two years to complete.

CoreNet’s award committee, comprised of senior corporate real estate executives, praised Hyundai Motor America for leadership on the project, along with its contractors, including Cresa in Newport Beach recognized for project management support; Gensler in San Francisco for architectural design and construction administration; Hyundai Engineering America for general contractor construction services; Snyder Langston in Irvine for construction management support; and Turelk in Irvine for interiors and construction services.

CoreNet counts more than 8,000 members, including corporate real estate brokers and other industry professionals in North America, Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America.

Its Southern California Chapter has about 400 members.
