Greg May has boomeranged back to CBRE Group Inc., the top commercial real estate brokerage locally, after more than 20 years at Newmark.
May joined the firm (NYSE: CBRE) as senior VP last month and will serve in the company’s Newport Beach arm that specializes in Orange County offices.
At Newmark, OC’s third-largest brokerage in 2022 with $4.55 billion in leases and sales, May worked as executive vice president and West region market leader, leading almost a dozen of the firm’s Western offices.
CBRE, by comparison, was the top brokerage locally in 2022, having done $8.06 billion in sales and leases.
May counts over 35 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Deals he’s worked on include the $157 million sale of multiple buildings at Summit Office Campus in Aliso Viejo, the $147 million sale of City Tower in Orange and the $107 million sale of the two-building Atrium complex in Irvine.
“His extensive understanding of the Orange County office market is a testament to his expertise, which will fortify our team’s growth and success in this market,” CBRE Executive Managing Director Kurt Strasmann said in a statement.
