Ayres SD Hotel Breaks Ground

An Ayres Hotel is part of a development breaking ground tomorrow in Chula Vista.

Costa Mesa-based Ayres Hotels owns and runs 21 hotels—all in California and 10 of which are in OC.

The Chula Vista location is described by the company as a boutique hotel and expected to have 135 rooms. The site is 20 minutes from downtown San Diego.

The hotel is part of the Millenia Commons project a $45 million, 132,000 square-foot retail center by San Diego developer Sudberry Properties. The center opens next summer with tenants to include HomeGoods, Cost Plus World Market, Ross Dress for Less and Buy Buy Baby.

The Commons is part of Millenia, a 210-acre mixed use development overseen by Meridian Development, also in San Diego, on behalf of Dallas-based Stratford Lane, which owns the land.

Work is progressing on more than 1,000 homes and apartments and an upcoming 500,000 square feet of office space, along with retail, hotel and civic amenities.

Millenia is planned for 3,000 residential units, 2 million square feet of Class A office space and 1.5 million square feet of retail, along with hotels, parks, bikeways, promenades and public plazas.
